As a small tech company, we offer an exciting work environment and career paths to grow.

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a highly motivated experimental physicist to fulfill the role of Research Scientist. An ideal candidate will be a skilled hands-on researcher with fundamental scientific background in lasers, atomic/ molecular spectroscopy, and optical physics with a demonstrated record of scientific and engineering achievement. Expertise in spectroscopic sensing, or other related  fields such as light-atom interaction, interferometry, optical magnetometry, quantum sensing, laser system development, etc., is highly desirable for this position. We expect a successful candidate to eventually become a technical lead in ongoing optical sensing projects and to create new opportunities in developing closely related technologies.

Responsibilities:

-        Generate technical problem-solving ideas and create grant proposals to attract new R&D funding

-        Design and build laboratory prototypes containing following system modules/components: lasers, optical fibers, optical and/or photonic components, RF and microwave devices, control electronics, optical/microwave diagnostics tools, mass spectrometers, vacuum systems

-        Run experiments and collect/analyze data

-        Identify and solve technical problems to achieve project goals

-        Work closely with scientists and engineers to develop a technology and deliver an integrated product

-        Present research results and write technical reports

Minimum qualifications and Nice-to-haves:

-        PhD in one of the experimental physics fields is required. We require a demonstrated research record in such fields as Physics or Physical Chemistry. A PhD in Electrical Engineering will be acceptable for candidates who can demonstrate a successful record of experimental R&D.

-        Proficiency with experimental research techniques in atomic/molecular spectroscopy and optical physics. (Required)

-        Intimate familiarity with common laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition/processing. (Required)

-        Good technical writing skills and experience with writing grant and contract proposals is desired.
